Optimize Work is a New Zealand owned and operated company run by our team of skilled clinicians. Drawing on a clinical rehabilitation background we have moved on to work in a variety of challenging workplaces in manufacturing, construction, and office environments.
We understand that our clients are the experts of their workplaces and the challenges that come with their industry. This is why we take a collaborative approach with our clients to get the most out of their expertise.
We offer a wide range of services that aim to optimize the health of corporate and individual clients ranging from comprehensive pre-employment health screening to health and wellbeing education seminars.
Injuries and Illness in the workplace have both upfront costs in the form of sick leave, ACC insurance levies, and costs in relation to loss of production while employees recover and positions are filled. At Optimize Work, we believe prevention is the best approach, and so we pride ourselves in being the ambulance at the top of the cliff. We can help you take care of your most valuable assets, your staff, without having to leave the workplace.
I have a keen interest in the field of preventative medicine and am determined to get involved in a meaningful way with this growing area of healthcare. Currently I am an associated member of NZOHS and working towards HASANZ membership.
The experience I bring to the table started in rehabilitation. Working with heart failure, diabetes and lung cancer has given me a healthy appreciation for prevention. I made the move to workplace health screening in an effort to get more involved with community based health screening. During my time as a health consultant I have worked on projects aimed at improving cardiovascular risk screening tools in workplace interventions. After I moved out of a consulting role I went into a systems clinical role, coordinating a nationwide network of healthcare providers while juggling the needs of various stakeholders such as clinics, employers and employees.
Outside of work, I lead an active life with rock climbing, trail running and more recently mountaineering keeping my calendar full and my wallet empty. I also play competitive underwater hockey and have represented New Zealand internationally.
I have been working in the health and wellness industry for over 10 years and have worked with a range of small and large business throughout the country. I absolutely love my job and I am truly passionate about health and wellness and how it impacts one’s quality of life in and out of the workplace. I understand that health and safety workplace risks, organisational structure and the individual health of workers is unique within each business.
My extensive studies as a registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist has allowed me to work with a range of conditions and chronic diseases including metabolic syndrome, cardiac disease, neurological diseases, cancer, mental health, musculo-skeletal conditions and the aging population. I have a particular interest in musculo-skeletal system and pain reduction and prevention through movement. My background as an exercise scientist has allowed me to work with athletes and the general population by helping them reach their goals through correct exercise training and nutrition. As I have worked with a range of conditions in and out of the workplace, I understand the significance of the connection between worker health and healthy work. I am always looking for ways to learn, support, educate others to live a healthy lifestyle while at work and at home.
It is a good thing that I love to keep active with all the cooking and baking that I do which is also a love of mine. I am always up for an adventure and enjoy exploring what our country has to offer with my family.
I have a keen interest in people! Being able to assist people from all walks of life with their health and wellness is an absolute passion of mine.
As a registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist, I have a lot of experience in disease prevention and exercise rehabilitation. My extensive studies and early working career were heavily focused on healthy aging and chronic disease. However, over the last few years I have realised the heightened value in the role of disease and injury prevention – the best healthcare strategy, as opposed to ‘rehabilitation’ – a sick-care strategy. Having the opportunity to work with a variety of different people from various workplaces and organisations has allowed me to gain a huge appreciation for what we can achieve if we work well together and prioritise our health!
Personally, I love to keep active, and on the weekends you can usually find me walking, exploring, surfing, and hiking outdoors!
I am very passionate about improving health and quality of life.
My experience began in exercise rehabilitation. I have worked with individuals with a range of conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and cancer. I also have a keen interest in disease prevention through exercise and lifestyle intervention. My studies and clinical experience have given me extensive knowledge into how much impact our daily habits can have on the risk of developing disease, and therefore quality of life.
I am looking forward to exploring the corporate health industry further and being able to reach more individuals through the workplace. This pathway will allow me to have a positive impact on the health of a greater number of people.
